Our FDA -approved DirectView™ DIVA Interchangeable Angled LightGuide System is a family of pre-sterilized, disposable, interchangeable LightGuides designed for the specific diameter and length of each laparoscope. These LightGuides are pre-sterilized and pre-packaged in blister packs, and opened only prior to immediate use in the operating room.

The issue of disposability for future office use is also important. The availability and high cost of sterilization equipment and appropriately staff trained to perform endoscope sterilization is limited. Pre-sterilized packaging reduces patient risk, lowers sterilization costs, and increases ease of use.

Our DIVA LightGuides are constructed using a polymer tube which houses an optical conduit at the distal end to transmits light from the proximal to the distal end of the endoscope. This conduit functions like conventional fiber optics, and is composed of high transmission plastic rod material. The polymer tube is sealed with a lens and a plastic light guide extension at the end of the polymer tube, which interfaces with the laparoscope’s fiber optic illumination annulus and objective lens.

DIVA LightGuides are offered with and without an optional Sterile Extender (SE). The SE covers the camera (and endo coupler if one is used) thus placing the entire laparoscopic system within a sterile field. Specifically, the SE is attached to the tubing covering the shaft of the instrument and is drawn over the camera, fiber optic and camera cable. This permits the laparoscope’s internal optical system to remain within a sterile field from one procedure to another. However, if used without the SE, the DirectView™ Laparoscope must be sterilized after each use.

However, it is important to note that, DIVA LightGuides sold without the SE offer greater ease of angle interchangeability during surgery as well as the capability of rotating the angled LightGuides a continuous 360 degrees.

During surgery, other angles, i.e. “22”, “15”, and “30” degree views, are either necessary or preferred by the surgeon. The DIVA Interchangeable Angled LightGuide System allows the surgeon to change viewing angles by substituting a different angled DIVA LightGuide. All DirectView™ DIVA Laparoscopic Systems use zero degree laparoscopes for all interchangeable angled LightGuides. As only the LightGuide is changed, the need to realign or recalibrate the video image to another, specially angled scope is eliminated. The visual orientation of the camera and video monitor and the rotational feature are retained. This improves the functionality of the laparoscope in the OR, improves ease of use for the surgeon, saves time during surgery, and eliminates the high cost of the additional scopes.

The packaging and ETO sterilization process is the same for all angles. All LightGuides are constructed using the same materials. All are tested for leakage and pre-packaged and sterilized, to be opened onlyat the time of use in the OR.

Model 10LG-320 Disposable Zero Degree LightGuide

The Model 10DLG-320 Disposable Zero Degree LightGuide is “0” degree viewing angle, 32 centimeters in length and is a single use device used with the DirectView™ Model 10RLL-320 Laparoscope. The LightGuide consists of a disposable rigid plastic thin wall tube running the length of the laparoscope’s shaft with an optical assembly mounted at the end. The proprietary optical assembly at the distal end, interfaces with the fiber optic illumination fiber optics and the objective lens of the laparoscope The product is packaged and shipped pre-sterilized, to be opened only at the time of use in the OR.

Model 10DLG-3215 “15” Degree Viewing Angle LightGuide

Model 10DLG-3215 Disposable LightGuide is “15” degree viewing angle, 32 centimeters in length and is a single use device used with the DirectView™ Model 0RLL-320 Laparoscope. It consists of a disposable rigid plastic thin wall tube running the length of the laparoscope’s shaft with an optical assembly mounted at the end. The proprietary optical assembly located at the distal end interfaces with the fiber optic illumination fiber optics and the objective lens of the laparoscope. The product is packaged and shipped pre-sterilized, to be opened only at the time of use in the OR.

Model 10DLG-3222 “22” Degree Viewing Angle LightGuide

Model 10DLG-3222 Disposable LightGuide is “22” degree viewing angle, 32 centimeters in length and is a single use device used with the DirectView™ Model 10RLL-320 Laparoscope. It consists of a disposable rigid plastic thin wall tube running the length of the laparoscope’s shaft with an optical assembly mounted at the end. The proprietary optical assembly at the distal end interfaces with the fiber optic illumination fiber optics and the objective lens of the laparoscope. The product is packaged and shipped pre-sterilized, to be opened only at the time of use in the OR.

Model 10DLG-3230 “30” Degree Viewing Angle LightGuide

Model 10DLG-3215 Disposable LightGuide is “30” degree viewing angle, 32 centimeters in length and is a single use device used with the DirectView™ Model 10RLL-320 Laparoscope. It consists of a disposable rigid plastic thin wall tube running the length of the laparoscope’s shaft with an optical assembly mounted at the end. The proprietary optical assembly at the distal end interfaces with the fiber optic illumination fiber optics and the objective lens of the laparoscope.
