Who We Are

Founded in 2003, Micro Invasive Technology, Inc. has developed cutting edge imaging laparoscopes for the next generation of minimally invasive surgical tools. Our technology is based on multiple intellectual properties and extensive experience in optics, electronics, and instrumentation. Our principals have extensive knowledge of micro invasive surgery markets and trends.

Our laparoscopic products offer high quality images equivalent to more expensive instruments sold for the same procedures, reduced operating room workloads, are safer and easier to clean and sterilize, and increased reliability over current instruments at significantly lower cost.

MITI has received FDA 510(k) approval to produce and sell our DirectView™ DIVA Laparoscopic System with our disposable interchangeable angled LightGuides. The FDA has determined that MITI’S“DirectView™ laparoscopes may be used by qualified physicians for general diagnostic and laparoscopic surgical procedures for visualization of body cavities, organs, and canals to perform various diagnostic and surgical procedures.

MITI’s FDA-approved DirectView™ DIVA Laparoscopic System consists of a unique 5 lens laparoscope (in lieu of the 26 lenses now necessary for a conventional scope) that is used with disposable, interchangeable, angled DIVA LightGuides. Because of their unique optical construction, our DIVA Laparoscopes offer additional advantages of low heat, electrical conductivity and ease of sterilization, at significant less cost, without either changing the use of the device or compromising its application. Our new optical design incorporates modularity, optical performance, flexibility and low cost. This instrument was designed to provide optical performance equal to those traditional devices that have been used for minimally invasive surgery for many years.

MITI’s DirectView™ DIVA Laparoscopic System includes pre-sterilized, disposable and interchangeable angled LightGuides. The laparoscope can be used with or without a protective sterile sheath. With the sheath, the laparoscope is enclosed through the length of the scope within a sterile barrier that allows telescope optics to be used for multiple procedures without being re-sterilized. Illumination transits the length of the scope with a sterile barrier that allows telescope optics to be used for multiple procedures without being re- sterilized. Without the sheath, the interchangeable angles eliminate the need for separate, expensive instruments for alternative views, thus facilitating cleaning and sterilization and enabling reduction of hospital inventory.

Our DIVA LightGuides, opened just prior to surgery in the OR, provide a sealed completely sterilized interface at the time of use. These LightGuides not only reduce the potential for infection at surgical sites, but enable the surgeon to utilize only one scope in the OR instead of two or more to acquire a full field of view with 0, 15, 22 and 30 degree interchangeable angles. In converting a 0 degree laparoscope to other viewing angles, Use without the sheath allows the light guide to be rotated 360 degrees This eliminates the need for separate, expensive instruments for alternative views. MITI’s technology enables a quick change of the visual image to view areas in the body cavity not visible with a single fixed angle device.

These facts are especially important as nearly 2,000,000 patients incur hospital infections every year. Of these, nearly two thirds suffer infections that resist at least one antibiotic drug. Approximately 100,000 Americans die annually from such hospital-bred infections. Our minimally invasive, pre-sterilized, DIVA Laparoscopic System is designed to deal with the problem with by providing each patient with the equivalent of a new instrument for each procedure. Improper or faulty sterilization or handling need not be transmitted from patient to patient.

All our DirectView™ Endoscopic Products are targeted at new FDA requirements which limit the use of re-processed endoscopes. Priced well below current market cost, the DirectView™ DIVA Laparoscopic System effectively offers a new, affordable instrument for each surgical procedure without compromising instrument quality for the same cost as a reprocessed unit.
